On the 23rd of April the Futurefarmers sailed the Seed Journey into Jersey on board the RS10 Christiania. On board were 5 artists, two captains, a navigator and a cook.
A small crowd gathered in the marina to extend a warm welcome, before being taken by open top classic lorries to Samares Manor for a bread and butter banquet, with communal baking, fresh bread from the manor’s wood fired ovens and the chance to get to know one another.
A big thank you to everybody who helped us and the Futurefarmers get off to an enjoyable and memorable start. Ports of Jersey for arranging the berth and supporting the project, Vincent and Ginny at Samares Manor, the Jersey in Transition baking group and Rich Howell of Pain de Famille for preparing the feast, the Jersey Ukelele Club and Montford Tadier for the wonderful atmosphere, our fantastic lorry drivers George, Nev and Ian, Organic Yurts for the lovely tables and benches, Magic Touch for the balloons, Classic Herd for the cheeses and butter, our guests for the homemade jams, Olga Finch at Jersey Heritage for a 6000 year old quern stone, Jackson Yacht Services, the Jersey Arts Trust, and the One Foundation for financial support and the powers that be for the glorious weather. We look forward to the weeks and months ahead.
